How the Bidding System Works

The Bidding System in the PPA Evaluation Tool provides a structured environment where Generators and Offtakers can seamlessly negotiate PPA terms. Here’s how it works:

1. Generators Discover Potential Offtakers

Generators start by accessing a complete list of potential offtakers with activity in the country where their projects are located. This feature ensures they can quickly identify relevant buyers for their energy.

2. Submitting a Bid

Once the right offtakers are identified, Generators can submit a bid directly through the platform.
Each bid can be tailored with the following details:

• Duration of the PPA (1, 3, 5, 10, 15, or 20 years)
• Structure of the agreement:
  • Pay-as-produced: Offtaker buys the actual energy produced
  • Fixed Profile: A fixed quantity of energy is supplied regularly
  • Baseload Futures: A stable, pre-defined amount of energy is delivered continuously
• Starting Date of the contract
• Hedge Percentage: The share of generated energy to be sold through the PPA

Once submitted, the selected offtakers receive an email notification with all the bid details.
The bid also becomes visible in the Market Overview, allowing for greater transparency and market visibility.

3. Offtakers Respond with Counter Proposals

When Offtakers receive a bid, they can respond directly from the platform by submitting a counter proposal.

They have the flexibility to adjust:

• The contract duration
• The structure of the PPA
• The starting date

Additionally, Offtakers provide key consumption data:

• Annual consumption
• Maximum hourly consumption

This information helps Generators better understand the Offtaker’s needs and evaluate the feasibility of the deal.

4. Negotiation and Bid History

Once counter proposals are submitted, Generators can view them all in a dedicated bid history area.
This organized view helps them analyze offers side by side, track negotiation progress, and make informed decisions, all in one place.
